Free February

Participants of this year's Rogue State Road Race series, hosted by the NCSU Cycling Club (NEXT MONTH! ... if registration ever opens ... ), will benefit from a clean and well-tuned bike. Whether you're one of the saints who volunteer to teach and/or do mechanic work at these events, or you're on the other side of that knowledge gap and ready to build upon your bridge to true cycling freedom— here are some free bike maintenance events around Raleigh during the month of February, 2023

RACE UPDATE: August 12, 2023
Exciting news! Mark your calendars— we have tentatively reserved the NC SHP Training Track for a criterium on August 12, 2023. What’s next? Once we secure @usacycling permits and additional related deliverables, we can formally confirm the date and open registration. In the meantime, if you are in…

If you'd rather take your bike to a shop, well— we already have some sponsors for this year's inaugural Raleigh Criterium and these shops are officially ready and willing to take on your precious race machines (just in time for racing season!).

Oak City Cycling

Free Intermediate Maintenance Class

The goal is to build on your basic bike knowledge. You won't leave an expert, but you'll know more than you did before.

1) Please bring your bike to class! You'll be putting it in a work stand and going over which parts you'd like to learn about. There are many different types of bikes and components, and having your bike in front of them will allow them to demonstrate with your specific setup.

2) The prerequisite for this class is the Basic Maintenance Class or equivalent. The equivalent would be knowledge of: cleaning and lubing a chain, drivetrain wear, changing a flat, & basic bike anatomy. Those comfortable with these skills will be able to get the most out of the class!
The next Basic Maintenance Class is the first date on our list this month. It will be on Wednesday, February 9th from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

3) The topics covered will depend on what attendees want to learn. Think of the 3 topics you're most interested in. They'll figure out which ones are mentioned the most and focus on those (it's usually adjusting shifting & brakes). They won't get into wheel truing or suspension service.
